A Life of Relentless Service
Nadoja Dr. Krishna Prasad Kudlu is a senior ophthalmologist, medical director, visionary and philanthropist. In 2001, he started serving as an Ophthalmic Consultant at the Udupi District Government Hospital and established its first Ophthalmic Unit. In 2002, he founded and established Prasad Netralaya, a super specialty eye hospital with a mission to provide ‘Vision for All’. His immense capabilities led the State Government to appoint him as the Chairman of the Vision Committee of Karnataka, and he prepared the Vision Health Policy of Karnataka. Furthermore, as the elected Honorary Secretary of Karnataka Ophthalmic Society (KOS), he has made several reforms in policies and administration. He has also served as an ophthalmologist at a government hospital, for a decade.
He is widely recognized for his contribution to the field of Ophthalmology as a Scientific Committee Member of the All India Ophthalmic Society (AIOS), New Delhi. He has attended hundreds of National and International Ophthalmology Conferences and also helped several budding ophthalmologists enhance their practical skills. For over twenty years, Dr. Krishna Prasad Kudlu has been striving to make the nation’s citizens free from treatable blindness and vision problems. Known best for his service-oriented nature, he has been felicitated on several occasions for his service in the eye care sector. In 2019, the Government of Karnataka awarded him the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award — the highest civilian award presented in the state, for his service in the field of medicine. In 2021, he was awarded the esteemed ‘Nadoja Title’ by the Kannada University, Hampi — equivalent to the honorary Doctor of Literature (D. Litt) degree.
