“Dr. Krishna Prasad Kudlu has been dedicated towards social services for several years. He is serving the people of poor sections of the society suffering from eye-sight related diseases — with his immense knowledge and expertise in all departments of ophthalmology, and with an expert team of doctors and paramedical staff. He developed his skills through National and International platforms, which made him employ his experience to the betterment of mankind in the field of health and education. Dr. Kudlu has imprinted his legacy through social service in the field of eye care and conducting free community camps. He has covered several districts of Karnataka, border districts of Kerala and Goa. He has organised a Master Project for the people of Udupi and surrounding districts in association with me, named “Sarvarigu Nayana” (Vision for All) and this programme was inaugurated by then Chief Minister of Karnataka Hon. D.V. Sadananda Gowda. So far, he has conducted thousands of free eye check-up camps, covering 10 million people and getting more than 50,000 people’s eye surgeries done for free of cost, and distributed over 3,50,000 free spectacles to the needy. He has conducted several screening camps for school children in which over 4,00,000 children were tested and provided with free spectacles. Being a responsible ophthalmologist, he has provided 24×7 service to patients during the pandemic in Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada — especially at a time when most eye care centers were shut down across the state and border districts of Kerala. Being appointed as Chairman of Vision Committee of Karnataka by the state Government, he has shouldered a major responsibility of framing Vision Policy for the state. He has attended hundreds of National & International Ophthalmology Conferences as a speaker and he has imparted a great deal of his knowledge in ophthalmology, which helped to improve the practice skills of budding ophthalmologists.”
